Reviews of Silverwood Heights

We moved to Silverwood in September 2011 – it’s great! The elementary schools are central to the area, so it feels like almost everyone is close to the school. Our kids walk home from school each day – traffic is never bad, and there are a lot of pedestrian crosswalks. It’s fast to get out of the city going north or to make a run over to Costco. Getting downtown via Warman road is very easy. The neighbours have been very friendly, and it looks to me like more young families are moving in all the time. I see a lot of children walking, cycling and scootering along parks and by the river. Silverwood is a thriving neighbourhood that has a lot to offer.

We’ve just lived here for a little over a year, and we LOVE the area. I feel safe letting my kids play in the front yard, and safe letting my 8-year-old walk to school. We love being so close to the walking trails by the river, and there’s lots of unpaved paths for biking and walking too if you want to get closer to the water. Whiteswan drive provides quick access to downtown, and a beautiful drive every time. The population is generally older, so younger families like ours are really welcomed with open arms. People are very happy to see young families moving in. The mature trees are also a very nice thing for the area, they’re pretty, and also kill almost all noise, making the area very quiet so far as barking dogs or other outdoor noise. The schools seem great. We had trouble choosing because they all seemed so nice. The community association is very active, providing lots of activities and events to participate in for all ages. We love it here, and I can’t see us leaving this area EVER. If we move again, it will definitely be within the area. We’d never leave our close proximity to the river again. It’s been a great benefit for our whole family.
